The gatekeeper's day, without the guesswork

A dedicated gate check-in screen: record the arrival, verify the driver, truck, and trailer, complete the safety check if the facility has one, and route the truck to staging or straight to a dock.

What a gatekeeper does in Docking Buddy

  • Records each arrival on a dedicated gate check-in screen built for the role.
  • Verifies the driver, truck, and trailer against the booking, with photos and paperwork capture at check-in.
  • Confirms each required item on the facility's safety checklist with the driver — or the driver acknowledges it on their phone from their appointment link.
  • Routes the truck to a staging spot or straight to a dock. A truck can stage before a dock is assigned.
  • Gets a clear flag before sending a truck to a dock that is already occupied.
  • Does not schedule or assign docks by default — the facility manager can enable gatekeeper dock assignment if the facility wants it.

One screen for the whole arrival

Arrival, verification, safety check, and routing happen in one flow, so the gate line keeps moving and nothing gets written on a clipboard to be typed up later.

A second set of eyes on paperwork

Photographing a BOL at check-in produces an instant Verified / Needs review flag matched against the expected order. Staff can override the flag at any time — check-in is never blocked.

Problems hold the truck, not the line

A flagged safety check can hold the truck, and missed or flagged checks appear in the attention list — so issues surface at the gate instead of at the dock.

Every arrival is on the record

Each check-in is timestamped and attributed, and safety acknowledgements are saved with the exact wording, who recorded them, and when, in a searchable log with CSV export.

Controlled per facility

The facility manager decides whether the gate safety check is on, what it contains, and whether gatekeepers can assign docks. The default is no dock assignment at the gate — routing to staging or an assigned dock only.
